The Totman Conservation Land sits just below the headwaters of Claypit Brook (above). The site is narrow at its main access point (shown below) and broadens upon entering its interior areas. Raccoon tracks can be seen year-round along the banks of the brook, while Green Frogs will often squeak, as they leap to the safety of deeper water.
Claypit Brook, which flows southeast to the Merrimack River, serves as an important biological corridor for wildlife traveling between the Lowell-Dracut-Tyngsboro State Forest and the Merrimack River. This property supports various ecosystems including forest, meadow, and wetland.
