Science: Bird Life - Birding Checklist
Mergansers are diving ducks that have special beaks adapted (with teeth-like lamellae) for feeding on mollusks and fish and are often seen along the Greenway during winter months.
Whatever time of year, if you do go birding along the Concord,
keep a checklist and
submit your observations to the Lowell Parks & Conservation
Trust. Your submission will remain on
file, accessible for use in current and future studies on bird
migration, climate change, pollution, and habitat loss.

Citizen Science studies sometimes take a close look a nesting bird species, to monitor when and where certain birds are taking up residence during breeding seasons.
