Concord River Greenway -
Preservation/Conservation
In designing the Concord River Greenway, great
care was taken to maintain the natural aesthetic of the river and to
incorporate educational and recreational components into the
development in a way that honored the existing environment. The
architectural integrity of the historic corridor, including the
mills, dams, and arch bridge, will be preserved.
The Greenway incorporates a public art component
that includes sculptures of native bird species as well as text
from local authors including Thoreau, Tom Sexton, Paul Tsongas, and
Jack Kerouac. The artwork is meant to compliment the natural
surroundings in a meaningful and seamless way.
