Heathland Plant Walk at Pawtucket Farm Wildlife Sanctuary
Categories: Events

Join us for a trail walk and learn about species in the heathland plant community at Pawtucket Farm Wildlife Sanctuary!
With views of the Merrimack River, this serene 22-acre sanctuary features diverse habitats including meadows, wetlands, heathland, and forest. We’ll focus on native plant species that are re-populating this former Christmas tree farm, especially within the heathland plant community.
This will be a leisurely walk along accessible, All Person Trails with many stops to observe wildflowers, trees and shrubs. The tour will be co-led by Mike Frederick, LP&CT’s new Development Director, and Leigh Cameron, Membership & Volunteer Coordinator. Mike previously worked for the Thoreau Society and has extensive knowledge of Thoreau’s nature writing, and Leigh holds a certificate in Native Plant Studies from the Native Plant Trust.
Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Check out the trail maps here.
This event is weather-dependent and will be postponed to August 6th if there is heavy rain, thunderstorms, or extreme heat.
