About Us

The Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust is here to protect unique places, conserve threatened species, activate people of all ages as land stewards, and connect local residents with each other and with nature. 

We are a private, non-profit, accredited land trust located in Lowell, Massachusetts. Founded in 1990 by local residents with a vision to protect the natural resources on which the city of Lowell was built, we’re a membership-based organization with a small staff and hundreds of volunteers. The Trust has a big community of supporters who love our work and the initiatives we create together:

  • Protecting over 30 acres for everyone in Lowell, including the Concord River Greenway and Jollene Dubner Park – and coming soon, another 22 acres known as Rollie’s Farm, the last family farmland in Lowell!

  • Conserving turtles and fish so our whole watershed can thrive, and planting trees in neighborhoods where children and families have the least shade.

  • Activating more than a thousand students each year as future conservation stewards through our after-school, STEM-based environmental education program offered in partnership with Mass Audubon and Lowell Public Schools.

  • Connecting thousands of community residents through year-round programs at Hawk Valley Farm, Donahue Park, West Meadow, Spalding House, the Greenway, and more.

The Trust is a membership-based organization.

Nearly half of our members live outside of Lowell, but they understand that a healthy city is the core of broader environmental health.

Providing access to open space and programs that engage people in Lowell’s own backyard enhances the quality of life for the people that live here.

For every $1 that we receive from our generous members, it leverages another $5 in funds from public and private sources.
