Access

Access to this conservation parcel is difficult, but there is a short trail off Totman Street.  An easier, though informal, access point is at the south end of Eleanor Drive alongside the culvert.  This property is not easily accessible for passive recreation.

Parking: Street parking is available along Totman Road.

Conservation – for Nature’s Sake

The Totman Conservation Land provides a narrow corridor of protection for Clay Pit Brook, which is a tributary to the Merrimack River.

Streams are Important

While the property lacks easy recreational access for humans, it provides an important wildlife corridor for the city’s wildlife.  Deer are frequently seen here, as the brook provides access for wildlife traveling between the Lowell-Dracut-Tyngsboro State Forest and the Merrimack River.

Totman Conservation Land is located off Varnum Avenue and sits between two residential neighborhoods, a commercial plaza, and the Lowell-Dracut-Tyngsboro State Forest.

The thick vegetation and understory make traversing this property on foot very difficult.
