4 teens and one adult woman smile with trees behind, Girls Inc with Staff Emily

Girls Incorporated of Lowell CITs ( Counselors in Training) explored Hawk Valley Farm, taking in the sights and sounds of this green oasis in full summer bloom. The CITs were in awe of the symphony of the crickets and bees and the smell of goldenrod in the air. “The air smells so fresh here!” they exclaimed.

The CITs are part of an pilot program with Mass Audubon called Land Science. It’s a virtual internship where youth get to solve real-world challenges while learning about urban planning and environmental justice, and developing on-the-job skills like effective communication and working as a team! Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust has been lending our urban conservation expertise and discussing what we at LP&CT have done and are doing to conserve green spaces and build resilience to climate change here in Lowell.
