Spalding House Second Sundays

Event Date:

Start Time: 2:00 PM

End Time: 4:00 PM

Location: Spalding House
383 Pawtucket Street, Lowell, MA

The Spalding House’s historic connection with the Pawtucket Falls and the Merrimack River signifies the many ways in which the relationship between people and the river has shifted over the years; from providing abundant fish to abundant hydro-power.

Explore this relationship, and more, as we open up the Spalding House to the public for tours and for family-friendly activities, usually the second Sunday of every month.

Our April Second Sunday program:

April 14 – Spring Open House

With spring come fish!  As winter melts away, we start gearing up for our fish monitoring program on the Concord River.

This month we’ll be sharing information about how and why we’re involved in this important program, as well as how the rivers have impacted the inhabitants of the Spalding House and the Lowell area for centuries.

Tour the house, explore the falls, once an important Native American fishing area.  We’ll also have a fish-related craft & snack for kids!

Upcoming Sunday programs:
May 11 (SATURDAY – Doors Open Lowell)
Historic properties throughout Lowell will be open for special tours for this SATURDAY open house.
See a different side of Lowell.  The inside.
Past Sunday programs:
March 10, 2019
If you haven’t visited in awhile, stop by to see our latest updates… newly painted doors & trim, including the unique hanging wall & door, updates to the ell kitchen, and we’ll have our new self-guided walking tour pamphlets, hot off the press!  We’ll also feature a new exhibit in the bedroom of ladies undergarments, hair combs (tortoise shell), a hoop skirt frame, and a bustle.  What’s the connection between the environment and ladies undergarments?  Come find out!

These programs are supported in part by a grant from the Theodore Edson Parker Foundation.
