Join us for a lively discussion to learn about their research on climate, turtles, bugs, and trees.

Speakers:

Alison Hamilton, Assistant Teaching Professor, UMass Lowell Biology Department. Allison’s research focuses on:

  • Evolution, Biodiversity, Phylogenetics, Herpetology (turtles!)

Christina Kwapich, Assistant Professor, UMass Lowell Biology Department. Christina’s research focuses on:

  • Behavior and ecology of animal societies, ant nest architecture, myrmecophiles, colony-level traits, production ecology, seed harvesting ants

Lori Weeden, Associate Teaching Professor, Associate Chair of Undergraduate Programs, UMass Lowell Environmental Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Lori’s research focuses on:

  • Soil carbon sequestration, surface water chemistry and science education.

  • How the education system has affected the general public’s understanding of anthropogenic climate change.

Joy Winbourne, Assistant Professor, UMass Lowell Environmental, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences Department. Joy’s research focuses on:

  • Terrestrial biogeochemistry, global change biology, urban ecology, ecosystem ecology, forest ecology, plant ecophysiology
