The Concord, Conquered – A Tale of Hearts and Crafts

Rafting press day brings out all sort of media.  This time, local blogger Patrick Cook detailed his rafting adventure alongside several youth from our TREES after-school program, run in partnership with the Lowell Public Schools and Mass Audubon Drumlin Farm.  The blog weaves in Star Wars, Thoreau, and the rock band Twisted Sister making for a great read.

Unbenownst to them, these high  school  youth  also  got to spend time with State  Senator  Ed  Kennedy, who happened to be along for a ride on the Concord.  Sharing an adventure like that with a leader in the city really makes them seem more human and approachable!

Thanks to Zoar Outdoor and the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center for making these trips possible.  Great partnerships make for creating a great community through conservation.
