Join us for our Open House at the Spalding House on Sunday, October 18th, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM for a hands-on flax demonstration as we follow this remarkable fiber through its transformation from plant to prepared flax, from fiber to thread, and ultimately from thread to cloth and clothing.

Long before we could not simply head to a store for our next spring/summer clothing. A lot of work and ingenuity went into
preparing our wardrobe. We began with growing, harvesting, processing, spinning, weaving, and sewing with flax. Let’s step back in
time and explore how our ancestors prepared for the seasons ahead—one flax stalk at a time.
