More Information

Did you know that the Spalding House was built circa 1760 and is Lowell’s third oldest home?

Visit this colonial museum to discover the history of the property and its unique connection with Pawtucket Falls and the Merrimack River.  You’ll learn how the relationship between people and the river has shifted over the years; from providing abundant fish to abundant hydro-power. Explore this relationship, and more, as we open up the Spalding House for the annual Doors Open Lowell.

⚾️PLUS, we’ll have a special exhibit! History meets baseball at the Spalding House during Doors Open Lowell 2026! With the return of the Lowell Spinners this spring, there’s no better time to celebrate America’s favorite pastime. Stop by the Spalding House between 1 and 4 PM to tour this historic home and explore a fun mini-exhibit revealing what’s really inside a baseball—the answer might surprise you! The red stitches & leather have been removed so you can see the baseball down to its core. AND, we’ll be raffling off four free tickets to a Lowell Spinners game!⚾️

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with history in Lowell!
